Are you into sampling craft beers? This weekend, you will have an opportunity to do so with 220+ beers at your finger tips.

It’s the Minnesota Craft Beer Festival, held at the Minneapolis Convention Center on Saturday April 23 from 2:30 – 6:30 p.m. There will be more than 80 breweries present from Minnesota and beyond with over 220 beers. Each brewery has been asked to bring a taproom-only beer and or a rare limited-release beer. Entertainment will be provided by Erik Berry from Trampled by Turtles.

Vikings Training Camp Underway

Ah, it’s that time of year again! The yearly ramp-up before the NFL season begins and the Vikings’ trek to Mankato begins.

Last year, Minnesota Connected was able to chronicle some of training camp.

This past Saturday marked the 2015 report date for the players, but Sunday was the first open practice held by head coach Mike Zimmer (full schedule here). Practice runs each day 10:30-11 a.m. and 2:45-5 p.m.

Imagine starting your golf round with 8 straight birdies. Annika Sorenstam did just that at the Standard Register Ping LPGA event at Moon Valley Country Club in Phoenix — 14 years ago. The longest string of birdies her caddy Terry had witnessed was five-in-a-row. After eight, Annika admitted that her mind was wandering and she got nervous. No woman had ever shot a golf round under 60 strokes and she dreamed about making history. She told her caddy: “Let’s get a par on this hole.” And then she steered her drive into play and two-putted the ninth green for par. Mission accomplished. At the break between nines, her excitement rose again and she exclaimed: “Terry, are you ready for more birdies?” And then resolutely proceeded to birdie the next four holes!

CHS Field to Host 4th Annual Internet Cat Video Festival

Once again, it’s time for the annual Internet Cat Video Festival, held this year at CHS Field, the new home of the St. Paul Saints. This year’s event, hosted by the Walker Arts Center, will feature videos curated by Will Braden, who created the Henri Le Chat Noir videos and the festival’s first winner of the Golden Kitty (People’s Choice) Award.

Besides showing cat videos, the event will also feature: photo ops, art adventures and other “meowvelous” fun. Radio personality Barb Abney of Go 96 will host the event.
