The Famous Blue Metrodome Seats Go on Sale

Metrodome Seats for Sale - 2013 - Blue Seats - $60

At long last, Minnesota Vikings, Twins, and Gophers Football fans can get their hands on some of those stark blue, plastic, Metrodome seats. The Minnesota Sports Facilities Authority has put the Albrecht Sign Company in Fridley in charge of the sale of the seats, and getting your hands on one of these treasures might be easier than you think. Most seats cost $60 a piece (plus tax), with special request seats running at $80 a pop.

Non-profit organizations get a cheaper deal on the seats at $40 for one of these “barcaloungers,” an effort to have the seats reused around the Twin Cities in high school/college ball parks and other public venues.

“A number of Minnesota organizations wanted seats for new or old ball parks, and we wanted to be able to make them available,” said chair of the MSFA, Michele Kelm-Helgen.

There are also group deals available, but if you want to buy a handful of seats, the deadline to purchase, this upcoming Thursday, is quickly approaching. If you want a single seat to purchase, the deadline to buy is January 7th. If you buy seats, you are required to gather your memorabilia yourself and schedule a time to pick up your blue treasure before January 17th.

Albrecht believes as many as 30,000 of the Metrodome seats could sell, meaning there are plenty up for grabs. If you’ve ever dreamed about owning a piece of the Metrodome, here is your chance. And even more, if you have special seats you’ve cherished during your tenure as a Vikings/Twins/Gophers fan, lock those babies up and bring them home. You can relive that game-winning moment, or the seats you went on your first date with your now significant other, by having those cherished crappy blue seats as a part of your collection.

If you want to be the proud owner of those famous Metrodome seats, visit Albrecht’s website.
