Walker Art Center Presents Two Day ‘Rock the Garden’ Event

Walker Art Center

The Walker Art Center and MPR’s The Current present two full days of eclectic music with its annual Rock the Garden event this weekend. For the first time since its start in 1998, the event will take place on both Saturday and Sunday. Rock the Garden will feature a variety of styles from indie blues to rock to hip-hop.

The line-up includes local Twin Cities artists Lizzo, Jeremy Messersmith and Dessa. Full line-up for the weekend is:

Saturday, June 21

3:45 pm – Lizzo

4:30 pm – Jeremy Messersmith

5:55 pm – Best Coast

7:20 pm – Matt and Kim

8:50 pm – De La Soul

Sunday, June 22

3:45 pm – Valerie June

4:30 pm – Kurt Vile and The Violators

5:50 pm – Dessa

7:15 pm – Guided by Voices

8:45 pm – Spoon

Dessa - Rock the Garden

Dessa in concert.

One-day tickets are $59 while two-day passes to the whole event are $100.

But if you’re willing to pay a little more, oh say $225 for one day and $400 for both, you’ll get the complete VIP experience. This means a birds-eye view of the concerts from the rarely visited rooftop terraces at the Walker. It also means sampling cuisine from Modern Events by D’Amico, from simple favorites like hot dogs to high-end choices.

This event has been running strong since 1998 for one simple reason: it’s a blast for all music fans in the Twin Cities.
